Katy Perry made everyone laugh like a pro when she guested on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, but it appears as if she is also becoming quite the pro at changing her hair color. Just in one year, she has gone from black to red to blonde to pink and now back to blonde again.

The singer’s colorist, Rita Hazan, absolutely loves Katy’s newest hair color. “She wanted to do something different — an easy, effortless honey blonde,” she told People. “She’s having fun with her hair color now, which I love.”

Not only is her hair color different, but also the length of her hair. Last week, she cut a couple of inches off of her hair and she is now rocking “a really edgy bob.” In order for Perry’s hair to have some depth, Hazan left the ends of her hair a little bit darker. “We didn’t want it too solid or boxy,” she explained. “She has to work something that’s cool.”

Almost everybody has seen Katy Perry with her now-signature pink hair, but Hazan says that Perry was ready for a change. “That was high maintenance, it fades really fast,” she spilled. Despite that, Hazan also thinks that when Katy decided to go for a bit of pink, it was rather genius. “It worked with her skin tone, too.”

Changing the color of a person’s hair can be rather harsh and damaging, but Hazan claims that Perry is very strict with conditioning treatments at home. “I know she does them, because she always calls me and asks me to send her more product,” Hazan teased. “She takes it seriously because she likes to keep her hair healthy. It doesn’t just stop at the salon — it has to continue at home, too, and she understands that.”

Although Katy is enjoying her time as a blonde, Hazan says that she doesn’t think the color will be around for too long. “I think this will stick for a few months at least,” she stated. “But she’s Katy Perry — she can do anything at any moment.”
