When someone says Barbie, no matter what role she’s playing, the general look is pretty much the same everytime: slim figure, huge boobs, and long, straight hair. But not this Christmas…at least in Georgia.

A group of African-American women who meet regularly at the town’s library are going to give the Barbie dolls you know a makeover and then hand them out to girls in the neighborhood. But the twist is that the new dolls will all be sporting a curly and natural hairstyle.

One of the group members, Jennifer Henderson, shared the reason behind this makeover project, “We wanted to show the girls that basically, it’s okay the way God made you.”

Definitely a pretty interesting project and one that will be spreading a good message. And who knows, maybe Mattel will catch wind of this and spread it on a larger scale.
