Following Joanna Vargas Skincare’s Vitamin C Face Wash is the Daily Serum. The Daily Serum is a serum packed with immune boosting green tea, chlorophyll, Larch Tree Extract, Avena Sativa/Oat Grass Juice and in addition to that, Vitamins A, C, F (found in leafy green vegetables, anti-inflammatory properties) and E. If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it does a lot. According to Joanna Vargas, “Moisturizers are made to be barriers for day; their primary function isn’t to hydrate but to protect against the environment. But if your serums are made to protect against that anyway, you won’t need anything else.” That said, The Daily Serum shaves off that all-important moisturizing step in a daily skincare routine.

As a serum for all skin types, the Daily Serum claims to brighten, oxygenate and restore a healthy glow to your skin with every use. Sounds like a win when you factor that you don’t technically need to moisturize if you have this serum on!

Packaging (pictured above)
The serum comes packaged in pretty much the same pretty gold and white packaging that I’d recently described in my review of the Vitamin C Face Wash. Only, the bottle is smaller to accomodate 1 oz. of the product. An ounce doesn’t sound like much for $85 USD, but you don’t need a lot for each use.

Scent/Texture
Texture is pretty much that of your average serum. Smooth, gel-like and green, the Daily Serum smells like a blend of cucumber and grapefruit. To me, it smells like green juice you can order at any juice bar but the smell is mild so it doesn’t bring up any bad taste-memories. It’s the kind of smell that makes you feel like you’re doing something healthy.

Directions
Directions are pretty straightforward — apply a thin layer to cleanse and dry skin. It can be used on your neck and eye area but keep in mind, a little goes a long way.

Overall Performance
Having used the Daily Serum religiously for a little over a month, I’m finding that my complexion is brighter and the appearance of acne scarring to be less severe. On top of that, I feel it’s done the job of minimizing the impact of my monthly breakout (due to that time of the month). Instead of my face exploding in pimples, I’ve only had to deal with one or two tiny pimples! A miracle, if you ask me. It also leaves my skin feeling moisturized and well-balanced and so I’ve cut back on using moisturizer. I’ve only been using Clinique’s Acne Solutions Moisturizer as extra protection against that time of the month. Overall, I’m finding that Joanna Vargas Skincare Daily Serum is definitely worth the splurge!

It currently retails for $85 at the Joanna Vargas Salon’s online store. While the price is pretty steep for serum, I would justify the purchase because you don’t need a whole lot of the product to do its job and it produced great results for me. Two thumbs up!
