A recent study done by Yale University has discovered that using a tanning bed can increase the rate of early-onset basal cell carcinoma, which is the most common skin cancer around. Tanning beds are the culprit of increasing the rate of the cancer by an overwhelming 69%.

The University of Minnesota also did a study that discovered that users of tanning beds are 74% more likely to get melanoma, which is the most deadly form of skin cancer. So, using a tanning bed doesn’t make you wonder if you’ll get skin cancer, but rather which skin cancer you’ll get.

These results may not be much of a shock to readers of beauty news, but it is still upsetting to read. Even after being informed of the dangers of tanning beds, people are still found in them! Being pale is not a crime, and sometimes a pale person looks nicer than a person with grilled skin.

If you guys really want to tan, you can use a spray tan with no cancer-forming dangers. Or, you could even spend some time in the sun! Despite this, the World Health Organization estimates that about 30 million Americans still use tanning beds. Don’t make the same mistake!
