In the past, black nail polish was only for rebellious teenagers or goths. It was never considered pretty and nobody ever thought that it would become a fashion statement in due time. The dark nail has been seen many times on the runway, including from Cushnie et Ochs, Chanel, and Rag & Bone just to name a few.
Although many seem to believe that there is only one shade of black (guilty as charged), StrangeBeautiful hopes to change that mindset with their new indie varnish line. With the mysterious name of Dickensian Volume, the set comes with 10 dark, metallic shades of black.
Jane Schub, the beauty entrepreneur who used to be a designer, got her fascinating inspiration from Charles Dickens and the Brothers Grimm. She thinks that the ultimate effect would be created if each nail had a different polish. If you’re willing to try it out, you can get it for $85 at Treasure & Bond.
