Being a teenager and susceptible to hormonal imbalances, blackheads have grown into a commonality of my daily life. The build up of blackheads often become an ugly sight where the skin becomes infiltrated with small black specs. Often, blackheads are formed when the body produces excess oil which accumulate in the glands of the skin. The oil in the pores get trapped which will later darken over time as it oxidizes with the air.
For those who also face this beauty crisis, you would definitely settle with me that blackheads are not a lovely sight. Thus to counter this horrid sight I decided to opt for Biore’s Deep Cleansing Pore Strips to resolve this dilemma considering the recent rave surrounding this product.
The Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips aims to address what girls fear the most, where the product is marketed to do the following:
Instantly pulls away oil and dirt build-up from your nose in just one use. Bioré® strips are twice as effective as the other strips on the market at ridding pores of build-up and blackheads. Formulated with a patented system to literally pull out dirt, oil and blackheads instantly. Custom fit to reach dirt and oil in those hard to reach areas. Helps reduce the appearance of pores with regular use. For best results, do not use more often than once every three days. Dermatologically tested, hypo-allergenic.
Packaging: Celebrating its anniversary, Biore released a new special edition package, where the strips came in a tin (instead of just a regular paper box). This was quite a neat marketing strategy as it allows the strips to be secured in an environment that reduced its exposure to sunlight and water, which can ruin the strips. Furthermore, the tin can be used multiple times for multiple applications as well, which is pretty cool.
Before [Excuse the redness of my skin - I was breaking out and my skin was horrible that day.]
After [The blackheads did clear but a majority of them still remained]
Results: Now here is where the product gets depressing. Many beauty gurus have raved endlessly about this product regarding how well it works. Though, after using this, I believed it fails to live up to its reputation. I took before and after pictures (despite, my camera refused to focus) and I honestly saw no difference. Upon seeing the results, I thought I did not apply enough water, hence I decided to give the strips another chance to work its magic a week later and the results, worse than the initial use.
In the first round when I took off the strips, there was a decent amount of blackheads but when I looked at my nose, I still saw a large number of blackheads that remained on my skin. I then realized that the strips only took off the smaller blackheads closer to the upper layer of skin and not those trapped in those enlarged pores of mine.
The second time wasn’t so great either. No results. According to the instructions, the strips are suppose to be used 2-3 times a week which is shocking considering a pack comes in 6 (You can get a pack of 14). Not so cheap. Anyhow a week later, I tried the strips again to allow the product achieve optimum results and I was more than upset. It did not pick up any blackheads at all instead it only picked up some random skin flakes.
Aftermath: Immediately after taking the strips off, the strips left an oily residue. Naturally, the skin will also start secreting oil in response to the “blackhead” stripping. Ultimately, this will often leave the nose area oily, which doesn’t do much good either considering the fact that this is the primarily cause of blackheads - DETRIMENTAL for those who want to remove blackheads!
Conclusion: I personally find that these strips are just not capable of completely wiping out those signs of blackheads. By using this product, it must be a constant routine since strips don’t fully eliminate blackheads and only remove the upper parts of the blackhead, leaving behind the bottom sections. Ultimately, this becomes the basis for further blackheads to reform.
Buying one pack is not so expensive however after it becomes a regular routine, it does become quite expensive. Thus, I don’t think I will be a returning customer since I wasn’t so justified with this product. Perhaps it is my skin that didn’t work well with the strips but don’t let my review stop you guys from trying this product out.
