Even though the holiday seasons are usually the most expensive, that won’t stop a considerable amount of people from having cosmetic surgery. This fact was supported by surgeons and dermatologists when they stated that the number of procedures have tripled in December.
Patients usually get cosmetic surgery during the holidays because the downtime gives them a reasonable amount of time to recover from sores, scabs and scarring. In other words, patients like to hide out and then look natural for the new year.
New York dermatologist Debra Jailiman states that instead of doing the usual skin-smoothing Fraxel laser procedures for five patients a week, she performed 15 of them a week during the holidays.
Bariatric surgeon Dr. Michael H. Wood experienced a high demand for gastric band and bypass procedures - a rise of ten-percent to be exact. Dr. Wood commented, “Patients do want to fly under the radar and they can do that during the holidays.”
Health insurance also plays a good part in the high demand for cosmetic surgery as reported by Dr. Wood. He states that patients who undergo the procedure are more likely to meet their insurance plan’s deductible limit.
I guess it is pretty smart to take advantage of the holiday season to get surgery and then hide out!
