Having set myself a goal of maintaining a more regular beauty routine this year, I decided to invest in some lip balms to restore the much needed moisture in my lips. Deem me as weird whatnot, but I don’t like drinking water at all which explains for the lack of moisture in my skin and lips. Thus to hydrate my body again, I decided to take some small steps, first by investing in Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Balm.

Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Balm claims to do the following,

Say goodbye to basic lip balm and rediscover the lips you were born to have!
- Lips are instantly moisturised for up to 8 hours.
- Contains active care ingredients, such as shea butter and centella.
- Vitamin Complex delivering powerful anti-oxidants.
- SPF 20 for protection against harmful UV rays.
- After 4 weeks lips are deeply repaired, completely reborn. Guaranteed.

Packaging: The lip balm simply comes in a cylindrical plastic container that has the words “Baby Lips” written in a bubbly font across. Each flavor in the “Baby Lips Lip Balm” range, corresponds to a certain color that it is commonly associated with such as Menthol (eucalyptus) with green and so on. The design is relatively cute but I wouldn’t call it classy but with that said, it definitely attracts it’s market group.

Application: The application was relatively easy and it doesn’t require a genius to know how to apply it. Though, I am pretty glad that the lip balm was designed as a tube rather than a tin because it can become extremely unhygienic.

Scent: I bought two lip balms, Anti-Oxidant Berry and Menthol and they absolutely smell good enough to eat (don’t recommend tasting it though, it doesn’t taste as good as it smells - I’ve tried!!). Menthol is just another fancier word to describe eucalyptus whilst Anti-Oxidant Berry smelt like a mixed berry smoothie.

After Pictures - Smoother Lips with limited cracks

Results: Applying the lip balm on, I felt instant moisture, though, in comparison to Carmex, this product trails behind by far. The moisture given, I feel is substantial for those who already have quite moist lips but for those who have reached breaking point of no return (like me), this would not give instant results. The product promises for 8 hours of moisture, but I think the product started to lose moisture at about 3 hours in. It was probably completely gone by the fourth hour.

Aftermath: After a week of usage, I saw a relative change in my lips. My lips were significantly moistened and cracks were minimal, though if I were to miss out on using the lip balm for about a day or two, the results would definitely diminish, only to be recovered after another day or two of use. Thus, results are only temporary however, long term uses of this product will definitely prolong the results.

Conclusion: All in all, this product is relatively good for the price it is worth. Considering have heard a huge wealth about this product, I have to say I slightly think otherwise. Though, I would definitely recommend this product for people who have slightly cracked lips only and hence won’t be a returning customer until my lips have rejuvenated!
