I’ve never used eyeshadow base before, thus certain eyeshadows fade away faster in a day than I’d like. Kind of annoying to keep having to re-apply, so this NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone appealed to me. Hopefully this would be a beautiful fix for the quickly fleeting colors.
NYX offers three shades of eyeshadow base total: White, White Pearl, and Skin Tone. The site says, “Maximize the intensity, longevity and unashamed brilliance of your eye shadow statements with our eye shadow primer pots. Each of the three NYX Eye Shadow Bases—for vibrant, pearl or neutral tones—creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.”
Untwisting the cap, inside I saw a skin color darker than my own. Uh oh, I thought. This might look more like an eyeshadow itself on my eyelids. I dabbed a finger into the pot and the color turned lighter, much more closer to my skin tone! Must be the exposure to air or something of the like. The texture is a bit creamy, and the scent is fresh and makeup-like. Sorry for the vague description of the smell, but it really doesn’t stand out much. I applied it all over my eyelids and then went on to put on the eyeshadow colors. The color lasted for all day and stood out more than before without the base.
Swatch:
A tip is to not pile too much base on, otherwise it’ll be quite easy to crease the eyeshadow color. You can also use it to highlight different parts around the eyes for a brightened effect. I don’t wear eyeshadow often, so I can make use of the base to cover my dark circles, mwahaha!
I recommend this for those who dont’ want to spend too much on cosmetics, as the price is $7.00 for each 7g pot. Go here if interested in purchasing. I think the White Pearl would be really pretty for a slight shimmer effect. Dark-circle-under-eye people, the Skin Tone one is the way to go.
