MAC Cosmetics is looking into renting a 1,400-sqaure-foot space at 691 Fifth Avenue, which could be the highest rent ever paid in Manhattan; the building is owned by Vorando Realty Trust, which is one of the cities biggest commercial landlords. The space is looking to be rented for about $3,000 per square foot, or maybe even higher!

Sources have stated that, though they are seriously considering it, no lease has been signed yet. Around last year, the company has already signed a quite pricey lease at the building of 1540 Broadway, which is in Times Square, and they have done very well over there already.

The company has done so good over at the 1540, that it is almost certain they will have just as good of sales in the 691, if they choose to lease it. Both Vornado and MAC have not commented on this matter.

So what do you think, would it be in their best interest to lease the new space, or not?
