Every now and then, the world of Korean cosmetics will churn out a beauty product with an English name so ridiculous, it begs to be tried. The latest ridiculously named product I’ve recently tried is Tony Moly’s Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream. Sure, they could’ve just run with Luminous Goddess BB Cream, but no. They stuck the word ‘aura’ into the mix and that just made everything hilarious. If you ever run into someone who claims that they can see your aura, you can just hand them the Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream and tell them you can see it too!
Packaging
The BB Cream comes in super cute rounded BB cream tube that’s white and pink. Instead of your standard tube opening, you get a precision tip applicator that makes it easy to dispense drops of BB cream rather than lumps. This is mostly because you only need a wee bit of this BB cream for it to do its magic. More on that later — here’s what the tip looks like:
And a photo of the back, just because I like you:
Instructions and ingredients are conveniently found on the box, in English and Korean! Holds about 45g/1.58 oz. of product which is decent because you don’t need a lot per application.
Shade
Sadly, there’s only one shade that this BB Cream is available in. The shade of this BB cream is in between fair and medium so it’s most suitable for those who are fair or medium skinned. For those with medium skin and yellow undertones, you’ll only need a little bit for the brightening effect to take place. If you’re not hip to the brightening, a little bronzer will neutralize the whiteness. Here’s what it looks like swatched on my arm:
Silky smooth, like lotion.
Scent
Floral scent that doesn’t stick around for long after application.
Performance
As someone with really oily skin, I found that the Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream did a decent job at keeping a balance of moisture in my skin, making for an overall hydrated appearance. One thing to note with this BB cream is that a little goes a long way. I made the mistake of applying a pea-sized amount on my hand only to discover it was enough to cover my entire face…and part of my chest. Expect a lot of use from a tube of this BB Cream!
The finish isn’t quite luminous as I’d expect from a BB Cream with ‘Luminous Aura’ in the title but hydrated skin has a glow all on its own. I discovered that the BB Cream becomes luminous when paired with the Tony Moly Luminous Aura Beam, a BB cream highlighter/enhancer. Stay tuned for the review of that soon!
Overall, a decent BB Cream for those with fair or medium skin, regardless of type. The only thing I’d like to change about this BB Cream is that it’d be nice if more shades were available.
Score: 4/5
