Following my review of the ridiculously named Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream, is its partner in crime, the Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Beam. You may be asking yourself what an ‘Aura Beam’ is. Sadly, I too, am still looking for an answer. In the context of this particular beauty product however, I can tell you that the Aura Beam is a highlighter/moisturizer hybrid product that can be used alone or to enhance the appearance of regular old BB cream so that it looks more luminous and shiny.

Packaging

Packaging is almost identical to the Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream, only the bottle is smaller and you get less product — 30ml/1.01 fl. oz. This is hardly anything to be concerned about since it’s a highlighter product — you don’t need a whole lot of it to begin with. Unless super shiny was the look you’re going after. Some photos of the bottle:

Usage

Usage is pretty straightforward. For an all-over sparkly shine and for a boost for dry skin, mix 1 drop of the Aura Beam for every 2 drops of BB cream. If you’re a greaseball like me and have super oily skin, you only need to dab a little bit of the product on the normal highlight areas — forehead, cheeks, nose etc.

Texture/Color

The texture feels like a thin gel. It’s a transparent shade of pink with a few sparkles in it that become less obvious when you apply the product. If used correctly, you don’t run the risk of looking like a clown. Here’s what it looks like on my arm by itself:

Me, wearing the Aura Beam as a highlighter over the Aura Beam BB Cream:

Note that you don’t have to use the Aura Beam with the Aura Beam BB Cream. Any BB Cream or foundation will do!

Overall

The novelty of being able to control how much shine is on my face hasn’t worn off just yet. I love the versatility it provides in its ability to be mixed into any sort of makeup to give it an extra shine kick and as a standalone highlighter. Those with dry skin are in for a treat as it has the double duty of moisturizing skin. Oily skinned folks are better off using it as a highlighter only. Though, depending on how oily you get, you may be able to get away with wearing it mixed into your foundation or bb cream. It provides a natural, shiny glow which is great any time of the day! Two thumbs up from me.
