Not only is baking powder great for baking, it’s the key ingredient in Etude House’s Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam. While the Korean brand has a wealth of cleansers, the fact that the Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam is specifically for those who wear BB cream or foundation is what sets this cleanser apart from the rest. The marketing images for this product suggest that you could even forego makeup removal and get straight to cleansing business. Me? I’m not so daring, but I went ahead and tried it out the traditional remove-makeup-first-then-cleanse way.
So what’s the deal with baking powder in your cleanser? According to Etude House, the baking powder serves as a mild exfoliator and cleansing agent that removes dirt and waste from pores. Perfect if you happen to wear makeup on a daily basis. Even better if you don’t! (Less to remove from your pores.)
The Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam comes in a large blue and white tube that holds about 150 ml of product. This is a lot considering you only need a pea sized amount to work up a crazy lather. By crazy, I mean a lot of foam. True, this tube is the least girly of Etude House packaging. Personally, I don’t really care — it doesn’t move much from my bathroom. Alternate views of the product:
Scent is one of the biggest draws for this product. Etude House alleges that it contains a natural scent. By natural scent, they mean it smells like freshly squeezed lemons and not like a floral, girly perfumed scent that lingers on your skin after washing. Not that artificial lemon candy scent, but actual lemons. If you’re offended by the scent of lemons, you might want to consider a different cleanser.
The one thing that I love most about the BB Deep Cleansing Foam is that it only takes a tiny amount for you to work up a major lather. The baking powder is also a great touch because you can really feel a mild scrub working as you wash your face. When I follow up the cleansing with toner, I’ve noticed that my cotton pad picks up less makeup and dirt which leads me to believe that the cleanser is doing such a good job at cleaning my face that there isn’t anything left for my toner to pick up. The fresh lemon scent that doesn’t stick around after you wash your face is also a great touch. Overall, two thumbs up!
You can currently purchase this at KpopHeaven for $13 — a steal considering how little you need of it.
