Strawberry flavored candies, scented candles and whatnot are probably one of my most favorite things in the world. Sheet masks are no exception! When I was walking around in Hong Kong during my two week trip back in May, I literally saw famous Taiwanese brand My Beauty Diary face mask boxes in every beauty related store I walked into or just past. Plus, a sale is very enticing. While looking through all the different kinds, I chose the Strawberry Yogurt Mask. Yum yum, on with the review, and let’s hope I don’t eat it first.
Sasa.com says, “My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Mask whitens and refines skin and control excessive sebum secretion. Natural strawberry extract contains AHA, minerals and enzyme to leave skin clean, fair and fresh. Yogurt extract balances sebum secretion and tightens pores. Arbutin leaves skin luminous. It also helps enhance skin’s moisture level. It is suitable for normal skin and combination skin.”
How to use directions:
1. After cleansing and toning steps, tear off the package of the mask and gently place it on the face.
2. Leave on for about 20 – 30 minutes. Then remove the mask.
3. Massage the remains, if any, into the skin. Follow with normal skin care procedure.
The box I bought came with ten individually packaged sheets. When pressing it, it feels quite squishy and full. Not to mention, I thought the little strawberries on the packet were absolutely adorable. Smelling the mask, it really is like those Asian strawberry milk candies. A pearly white plastic is on one side of the mask like a sticker sheet. It protects the sheet from ripping, I’m guessing, since it is rather thin. You just peel the mask off and apply it to your face, matching the eyes, nose and mouth openings as best as possible since it is one size. If you so desire, for parts that really won’t fit, you can cut off some of the mask. I’ve got to say, this is my first time trying a My Beauty Diary mask and it is absolutely wonderfully full of moisture compared to other masks I’ve tried, yet it is not drippy or runny.
Beforehand, I had already washed my face. Peeling off the plastic was fun, as well as filling my nostrils with the delicious scent of strawberries and yogurt. I loved how the essence is soaked into the material of the mask to the point it is sort of see-through. I left the mask on for 30 minutes for the juicy-ness to sink in. On the other hand, I found that my lips were getting drier and drier.
Here’s a tip: Put on chapstick or some other kind of moisturizing lip product on before applying the mask. If you forget– like me– you can always still save your chapped lips in the middle of the process.
Here’s a lovely (or scary) picture of how the mask fits on my exhausted face:
Even when time was up, there was still plenty of moisture left in the mask! I was rather impressed. Peeling the mask off was no hassle whatsoever, though some parts did rip, I must admit. Didn’t know it liked to stick to my face that much, haha. If there is excess, like the instructions say, massage it into your skin. Don’t wash your face off, as this is not a face cleanser. Though a tad bit sticky, my face felt so soft, moisturized and refreshed! No redness or irritation occurred.
Great for before going to bed, after a long day out in the hot sun or just pamper yourself in the luxury of your own home. Good for the mornings too, right before you apply your daily makeup routine. I found my face less prone to dryness for the next four or five days just because of the mask. I recommend this sheet mask for those who love strawberry scented things too! It’s a tad more on the strong side, may I warn, but not overwhelmingly dominant to the point you can’t breathe.
Get a box of ten sheets here for $13.20 US. If you live close to a store that carries this product, you could be able to pay less. I purchased my box in Hong Kong for less than $10 US. When I run out, I shall check out the others. There are other kinds of masks to try out too, each with slightly varying components so take your pick! Visit the brand’s official site here.
