Just about every respectable Korean beauty brand has some sort of ‘peeling gel’ or exfoliating product that promises that you’ll see your dead skin slough off, easy as pie. Vy’s review of Tony Moly Appletox Smooth Massage Peeling Cream recently inspired me to try out Mizon’s Fruit Therapy Apple Smoothie Peeling Gel, another apple-based peeling cream. How do we like them apples? Well, I’ll tell ya!
According to Mizon, the Fruit Therapy Apple Juicy Peeling Gel is a gommage-type peeling gel that exfoliates dead skin cells. When the gel is gently massaged into the face, dead skin cells will roll up and peel off your face. It’s packed with a variety of natural ingredients that are helpful for the skin:
- Tannin acid extracted from apples include vitamins that brighten skin tone for a healthier look.
- Cellulose rolls up dead skin cells, oil, and any skin waste mildly without irritation.
- Papaya fruit and gypsophila paniculata root extract deep cleans pores.
- Apple and sugar cane maple extract moisturize and sooth skin.
- Lemon, orange and billberry fruit extracts firm skin and prevent wrinkles.
Immediately after massaging this gel into your skin, your skin starts to do this:
Green apple, of course. If you’re not fond of this scent, you should probably pass. You’ll smell it the whole time you’re massaging your face.
If you were the weird kid in elementary school that really liked using Elmer’s Glue to peel the skin off your hands, you’ll love the Mizon Apple Smoothie Peeling Gel. I love that it seems to work instantly — dead skin just starts to appear after you rub it into your face for a few seconds. At the same time, there’s no real way to know if what is peeling off is really your skin and not the product itself simulating the look and feel of dead skin. Having used this for a few weeks now, I feel like it’s mostly true that your skin is being peeled off when you use this product. I’ve noticed that my skin is brighter and the texture smoother. There’s also that undeniable super fresh face feeling you get after you use the product. Even if it technically wasn’t peeling your skin, it’s great for making you feel super clean. Overall, 2 thumbs up, especially if you’ve got dull skin that needs a pick-me-up every now and then.
You can pick it up at KpopHeaven for $16 USD.
