Tony Moly Cats Wink Lipstick! Yet another Tony Moly cat-shaped, cat-faced Cat’s Wink beauty product — how could I resist? Since it seems like I can never get enough Orange in my life these Summer days, I decided to go for the most orange-looking shade in the Cats Wink Lipstick line, Orange Pop.

The Claims

According to Tony Moly, the Cats Wink Lipstick is a bright, moisturizing lipstick that leaves lips smooth, glossy and never dry. It doesn’t draw attention to dead skin on the lips — something that I always look for in a lipstick.

Packaging

You get about 3.5g of product in a super cute, black lipstick tube with a cat face and ears! Cat ears! Just like all the previous Cats Wink products! Here it is with the tube cap off:

Despite the cuteness, there is one downside to the design of this lipstick. You twist from the tube and not the end. Twisting also locks the lipstick in place when you’re finished using it. Sadly, there was no warning in English (or Korean) so it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out that I was doing it wrong. The whole time, I thought I received a faulty lipstick. To make things less confusing:

- Hold the tube body down and twist until you hear/feel a slight click. That means you’ve locked or unlocked your lipstick.
- Keep twisting the same direction you’ve been twisting to hear/feel the click until the lipstick pops up.
- When finished, keep twisting until you hear/feel a slight click. Then close. Done!

It’s nice that they did this, but I don’t normally run into any problems with traditional lipstick packaging. This new lock/twisting mechanism complicates things slightly.

Texture

Glossy finish, creamy, but not buttery texture. I’d say half the creaminess of a MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick.

Scent

Peach scented, but barely noticeable after you apply it.

Color

Despite the name Orange Pop, this lipstick is not Orange. It’s an coral pink with a soft orange undertone. Here it is applied half-on:

Applied fully:

Performance

One application of Tony Moly’s Cats Wink Lipstick lasted me about 4 hours before I needed to reapply. The glossy finish sadly faded after 2 hours, and I noticed that the color started to fade to the appearance of a tint after the third hour of wear. At the same time, the moisture the lipstick provided, lasted me the full 4 hours! Although the wear is pretty average, it kept my lips feeling moist longer than most lipsticks. When worn, the lipstick feels comfortable and not heavy at all.

Another great thing about this lipstick is that it indeed, does not draw attention to dry lips. Sometimes I run into the problem of too much lipstick settling into the lines and cracks of my lips — this lipstick does not do that so the result is smoother looking lips!

Although the color payoff and the glossyness is just average with this lipstick, it makes your lips feel moist for much longer than other lipsticks that promise to keep your lips feeling hydrated. This and the fact that it doesn’t emphasize the cracks and lines in my lips helps me overlook the fact that it’s not the most pigmented shade and that the packaging is a bit confusing. The texture is light which makes this lipstick a great option for those who are trying to get into the habit of wearing lipstick. Overall, a pretty good lipstick!

It’s cute but it’s not my color

I like the package! But not the color… And the lipstick on the lips were pretty weird… Was the lipstick being flaky on the lips?.. Or.. It was chapped lips?

The package is cute! Hmm...chapped lips...colour ain’t good.
