Following my Oxygen Purifying Facial at Joanna Vargas’ Salon, I was given a few products from her recently launched skincare line. For over a month, I’ve been test driving her products which are said to be based on 100% natural ingredients, free of petrochemicals and parabens and naturally not tested on animals. The first product I’ll be jumping into is the Vitamin C Face Wash. More »

After being so thrown off by the last H2O “Sea Salt”-scented product, I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and not pre-judge for this second one. Though this time, it’s the Spa Sea Salt Body Wash.
Scent: Described to be an “invigorating oceanside scent, infused with notes of green tea,” it’s suppose to impart a hint of its fresh fragrance onto your skin. Now from my previous experience with H2O’s “sea salt” scent, I was a bit wary to put my nose to this and was pretty much expecting to be overwhelmed by the same window cleaner-esque scent like before. Though to my partial surprise, it wasn’t as bad (or strong) as the body butter.
I have a feeling it might be to how it gets a bit diluted from when you put water to it to lather up. But when it gets a chance to bubble up to be used, I end up getting that hint of green tea that was mentioned, which ends up pretty pleasant. The negative though is that the initial impression when you sniff it from the bottle is still bleach-y window cleaner. Though the beginning inklings of the fresh scent that I expect beachy sea salt to have come through at the last moment.
Not a complete win but at least some other aromas come through besides bleach-esque ones.
Results: Used as any other body wash, I’d say that it was able to perform pretty well. It bubbled up nicely and when rinsed off, I’d say my skin felt very clean.
Overall: Priced at $4-$16 (depending on the size), it is maybe a touch pricey considering you only have the options of a 2 oz or 12.5 oz bottle.
Though I have to think that the scent might actually be appealing to some, since most body washes aren’t too different from one another in getting your skin clean. So the scent ends up pretty important when making your decision. For this one, it’s not that bad of a scent, though the underlying aroma still seems to (sadly) be window cleaner.
It might be one that you have to sniff for yourself to consider, but for me, it’s a pass.
Score: 2.5/5
(Disclaimer: H2O+’s Spa Sea Salt Body Wash was provided to me for review purposes. This review is purely my opinion.)
