I’ve seen a few different versions of lace overlay nails recently, and I thought that they looked pretty cool. Then this past week, Tracy Reese sent models down the runway with some pretty awesome lace nails, and now I think I’m sold! More »

I blogged about dry shampoo last week, so I was amused that TRESemme, one of New York Fashion Week’s big sponsors, was promoting their FreshStart Dry Shampoo at the tents this past week. I was able to snag a sample from them, and I tested it out today to see how it held up. More »

As soon as I saw the pictures from Cynthia Rowley’s Fall 2010 show, I immediately fell in love with the beauty looks. Sometimes your standard dramatic eye and red lip combination gets a little bit old, but I felt like this look definitely took the show to a really playful and unique level. More »

Models at the Christian Cota runway show on Tuesday got an awesome manicure from Dashing Diva salon — a blue ombre design. The nails matched the clothing perfectly, as some of the fabric used in the collection was hand painted as well! More »

The Mulleavy sisters, the brains behind Rodarte, showed their Fall 2010 collection on Tuesday, and Women’s Wear Daily reported that morning that MAC will release a collaborative color collection with the designers this September. More »

I won’t lie — one really cool thing about Fashion Week is all of the freebies. Free chocolate, free champagne, and even a free mini bundt cake from a friendly German man at the Lufthansa booth. Jinra and I went to the Timo Weiland presentation this weekend, and we were excited to find hair products from Davines in the awesome tote bags that we left with. More »

I’ve never been able to achieve perfectly voluminous AND glossy hair. For me, it’s either voluminous and a little messy, or pin-straight and glossy, so I was happy to see that Thakoon chose the messy look for his Fall 2010 runway show this weekend! More »

At the Y-3 runway show, the colors were overall pretty dark, but the eyes were electric! The models wore bright blue, green and purple cream eyeshadow all over the lid and winged out to the side. More »

What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than viewing the Fall 2010 collection from LORICK? This line is the epitome of ladylike, and the hair and makeup at the show was no different! More »

Yesterday, Diane von Furstenberg showed her Fall 2010 collection at Bryant Park. The clothing was the ladylike edgy style that we’ve come to expect from the line, and the colors stayed fairly dark and neutral with pops of color thrown in. The makeup focused on a statement eye that was beyond smoky. More »

Were you starting to sweat about finding your perfect red lip color for fall? Well maybe now you should start worrying about finding a perfect… purple? Peter Som sent his models down the runway yesterday with dark purple lips, and they actually looked sort of awesome. More »

I’ve been hanging around the tents at Bryant Park for the last few days trying to get the scoop on the latest fashion and beauty trends for Fall 2010. On Thursday night, I watched the models at Farah Angsana (above) rock some seriously beautiful dresses, and some seriously bold lips. The girls wore dark, smokey eyes and some had these beautiful, full glossy red lips. More »

Today marks the official start of New York Fashion Week! For the next seven days, buyers, editors, socialites, and bloggers (that’s us!) will be scrambling from show to show as the designers present their Fall 2010 collections. There is so much more that goes into a runway show than just the clothing — hair and makeup is also carefully planned to coordinate with the shows. Many runway makeup looks end up becoming trends, so you can bet that we’ll be paying close attention this week! To give you an idea of how the makeup looks are created, take a look at this video of Bobbi Brown doing her thing at Rachel Roy’s Fall show last year! More »

The awesome thing about runway shows is that nothing really has to be wearable on the street. Designers send models down the runway in shoes that are nearly impossible to walk in, and clothing that sometimes looks like it belongs more in the bedroom than on the street (hello, lingerie trend of S/S 2010). Often times the makeup and hair looks are equally as ridiculous, but sometimes fun to try out in the real world! More »
