Everyone seems to be talking about RiRi’s new red ‘do today! Sure, it’s a pretty fiery hue, but why has nobody mentioned the cut? Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan because it reminds me of the Three Stooges. More »

While flipping through this month’s issue of Lucky magazine, I came across a product that I want to try so badly: Oribe Gold Pomade. After the start of my gold beauty regime with Elizabeth Grant’s face serum (still time to enter to win your own!), I want to incorporate the shiny stuff into all of my beauty products! More »

The oil spill situation on the Gulf Coast right now is pretty serious. Reports are saying that the mess is only spreading, and once the oil is in the water it is very hard to get it out. Today I read some interesting news about a cleaning method — human hair! More »

There seems to be a growing trend of the “ombre” look in hair. We’ve seen it on nails before, but ombre hair? I’ll be honest — when I first saw pictures of ladies rocking this look, I thought it was just severely grown out roots. More »

By now I’m sure everyone has heard that shampooing every day can actually dry out your hair more than if you forgo a day or two in between. My problem is that I grew up on a shampoo every day schedule, and I’m finding it sort of difficult to break from. More »

Japan Fashion Week is underway, and already there have been some crazy looks down the runway. During Keiichi Muramatsu’s Everlasting Sprout Fall presentation, the models wore these amazing headpieces, seemingly made out of hair! More »

A lot of my childhood has been under the influence of old wives’ tales my mother brought with her from the Philippines. One such wives’ tale involves hair dye. According to my mom, hair dye causes cancer. The irony in this, is that my mother dyes her hair regularly and has over the years, achieved blonde hair. This past weekend, I tested this wives’ tale and dyed my virgin black hair. At a non-English speaking Korean salon. More »

Pantene has been around… forever, it seems. While it isn’t my shampoo of choice, I’ve used it before and don’t have complaints about it — it smells good, cleans up my hair, and conditions it well! Obviously the brand wouldn’t have made it this far without a solid product, but pretty soon Pantene is going to change and become, as Proctor & Gamble hopes, even better! More »

It’s always really funny to me when I see a beauty trend forecast that bangs are in again, because I’m not really sure when they’ve ever gone away. It seems that as soon as bangs appear on a celebrity who didn’t have them before, they become “a new way to update your look,” don’t you think? More »

I won’t lie — one really cool thing about Fashion Week is all of the freebies. Free chocolate, free champagne, and even a free mini bundt cake from a friendly German man at the Lufthansa booth. Jinra and I went to the Timo Weiland presentation this weekend, and we were excited to find hair products from Davines in the awesome tote bags that we left with. More »

I’ve never been able to achieve perfectly voluminous AND glossy hair. For me, it’s either voluminous and a little messy, or pin-straight and glossy, so I was happy to see that Thakoon chose the messy look for his Fall 2010 runway show this weekend! More »

Planning a night out with that special someone on Valentine’s Day? Whether you are going out on a typical dinner and a movie type of date or something a bit more extravagant like flying to Paris and going on a dinner cruise on the Seine, you want to look your best no matter what. But what do you wear? How will you do your makeup? And your hair? What do you do with your hair?! Valentine’s Day is the best time to let your romantic side come out. I think the best look for a Valentine’s night out with your sweetheart is a soft, feminine look. More »

The dry winter season wreaks havoc on my entire body including my hair and scalp. I’ve been hearing quite a bit about Chaz Dean’s WEN collection, but I wasn’t sure that I wanted to give it a try until yesterday. I figured the purchase was meant to be, because QVC had a special for Groundhog’s Day so everything was available on 4 easy payments. How could I pass it up, right? Well, that’s the excuse I’m using, anyway. More »

Do you ever wish that your hair was as perfectly conditioned and shiny as the girls in shampoo ads? It seems that there is a delicate balance between well-conditioned hair and greasy hair, and it’s really easy to make your mane too oily. In India, women use coconut oil to obtain those beautiful, glossy locks of hair. More »

One of my favorite movies of all time is Belle de Jour, starring Catherine Deneuve. If you haven’t seen it, you should! Catherine was such a beauty back in the day, and I absolutely loved the chic and effortless hairstyle that she sports after a long day at the, um, brothel — the French twist. However, as a girl with relatively fine hair, I have a heck of a time getting it to stay pinned in place once I twist it up, proving the “effortless” part of the look quite untrue. I scoured YouTube for a good video, and my favorite happens to be by the same user who brought us last week’s Bow Hair. More »
