I absolutely love makeup palettes. I tend not to buy eye shadows in individual containers because it’s usually more expensive to buy them that way, so unless it’s a color that I really want, I don’t buy it. Whenever I get a new makeup palette, I get so excited — it’s like getting a brand new cosmetics case all at once! When I was a kid, my cousin and I had a babysitter who had mood lipstick. We would beg her to let us try it because we thought it was the coolest thing ever! Thinking back on it now, the idea of mood lipstick seems silly — why wouldn’t you want control over what color your lips are? Apparently Too Faced still thinks it’s a great idea, because they just released Mood Swing, a lip gloss that changes color with your mood. More »

In my interview with Lipstick Queen creator, Poppy King, we chatted about her Black Tie Optional lip products, which are sheer black products that you layer underneath your normal lip color. Poppy told me that these products work like sheer black stockings that you wear on your legs: they give them shape and definition. Maybe it has something to do with the recession or our newfound love for natural beauty. Whatever the case, we were all still wearing makeup in 2009, but we went for makeup that gave us a more natural look. You know, wearing makeup without looking like we were wearing makeup. Sounds like it could be a bit confusing, but it makes perfect sense!

Wouldn’t it be amazing to be a complete 100% natural beauty? As in, you roll out of bed in the morning and with no makeup on, your face is completely flawless? Well, there aren’t too many people like that out there (if any?). But there is plenty of makeup that will make you look like a natural beauty!
