This past week, news surfaced that American Idol star Adam Lambert is planning on releasing a line of cosmetics for men. And no, this isn’t going to be like that time your brother stole your concealer to hide a zit on prom night… this is like a line of eyeliner, lip products and more. Totally weird. More »

I’m always a little late on viewing my subscriptions on YouTube. While I was watching the videos I had missed from glowpinksta [who hooked me with her Chola Makeup Tutorial], I came upon one where she was helping a friend advertise for her online cosmetic store, Valentine Kisses. So I checked out the site and what caught my attention (other than the layout), were the unbelievably great prices. There’s also free shipping to boot :] More »

Instead of being disgruntled about having no one to share Valentine’s Day with, why not embrace single life by celebrating Singles Awareness Day? S.A.D. is a mock holiday denouncing the concept and commercialism of Valentine’s Day. Plan a night out with your best girlfriends who are also single and just enjoy each other’s company. More »

Planning a night out with that special someone on Valentine’s Day? Whether you are going out on a typical dinner and a movie type of date or something a bit more extravagant like flying to Paris and going on a dinner cruise on the Seine, you want to look your best no matter what. But what do you wear? How will you do your makeup? And your hair? What do you do with your hair?! Valentine’s Day is the best time to let your romantic side come out. I think the best look for a Valentine’s night out with your sweetheart is a soft, feminine look. More »
It was reported late last year that Lady Gaga, along with Cyndi Lauper, will be the new face of MAC’s Viva Glam this coming spring. Their new campaign From Our Lips will feature lipstick shades named after Gaga and Lauper and will be released next month on March 18th. More »

I just read that world-renowned makeup artist, Trish McEvoy, will appear on an episode of Gossip Girl after the season (finally) resumes on March 8th. She’ll be appearing as herself, doing makeup backstage at Eleanor Waldorf’s fashion show. More »
The other day we reported that Avatar star Zoe Saldana is the new face of Avon. But now it seems that her actual character in Avatar could do a little modeling herself. Milani is actually coming out with a line of Avatar-inspired 3D makeup. And yup, you guessed it, it’s all going to be blue. More »

It’s no exaggeration when I say I’ve been looking for the perfect bronzer forever. OK, so at least since I realized how sickly I look in the winter and how a little bit of color really does make all the difference. Every bronzer I tried either looked incredibly fake on me or felt thick and caked on. Until I discovered The Body Shop’s Bronzing Powder. More »

We are now well into the first month of 2010, and to end our New Year’s Resolution special, I thought I’d share my top 10 beauty resolutions with you! More »

Rimmel London is celebrating 10 years in the U.S., and they are going all out for the occasion! The British brand is launching a huge new range of products, including mascaras, eyeshadow, lipgloss, blush and nail polish. You probably have a routine for your makeup in the morning. Mine goes: concealer, tinted moisturizer, blush, eyelid primer, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara. And repeat. Given the often short amount of time that I have to get myself ready in the morning and my comfort level with the products that I already use, I pretty much give myself the same face every day. As I mentioned in my post about cleaning out your beauty products yesterday, I have about 15 different types of the same colors of eyeshadow and lip color because I know they look good on me. One of my resolutions this year is to go a little bit outside my comfort zone and spice up my makeup routine once in a while. More »

It’s time for another weekly International Beauty Report! This week, I did some field work in Italy! While I rang in the New Year in Rome, I scoped out the beauty scene. Just in observation, I noticed that many young (20s) Italian women don’t wear very much makeup and seem to prefer a natural look. Older women (40s and on), however, were far more made up, sometimes with ridiculously thick eyeliner and outrageous colors! The big beauty item in Italy seems to be perfume, as there are perfume shops everywhere that carry most of the typical European brands like Chanel, D&G and Dior (see awesome Chanel No. 5 Graffiti found in Florence above). I did also find a few fun cosmetics lines in my quest for Italian beauty! More »

Nothing is as timeless as black eyeliner. Ever since it was first used in Ancient Egypt, it hasn’t gone out of style. Unfortunately, Cleopatra didn’t have as many black eyeliner options available to her as we do now. Black eyeliner, or eyeliner in general as you all know comes in liquid, gel or pencil form. Personally, I’m a big gel fan. I swear my life on MAC’s Blacktrack Fluidline (gel) paired off with an angled brush. I’ve had this life-long problem of being klutzy, and thus, my hands are too shaky for liquid liner. My question to you is, which form of black eyeliner do you prefer and why? More »
