If you work with your hands a lot like me, you will need to occasionally soak, exfoliate and moisturize them once in awhile. As we age, our skin retains less moisture. For young hands, why not start taking care of them now? Here are five simple ways to maintain, soft, youthful looking hands. More »

When you go to a salon to get your nails done, chances are that the nail technician has a whole bunch of little bottles that she’ll use during your manicure, but what are they? If you go to the drugstore, you’ll find tons of bottles of clear polish — some marked base coat and some marked top coat. But what’s the difference? More »

When you read a lot about beauty like I do, you begin to realize that people generally fall under one of two splurge categories: salon manicures or nail polish purchases. I’ve rarely come across a woman who doesn’t love the idea of getting her nails done, but some of those women prefer to build their home collections rather than pick from a salon’s colors. More »

Here is an easy tutorial on how to get rid of toenail cuticles. You can do this at home rather than going to a salon for a pedicure, which can run you between $25 - $40. More »

Sephora has a new nail product that works similarly to the popular Minx products. The Sephora by OPI Chic Print for Nails are heat-activated decals that you simply stick on to your nails when you want a fancy design. They are much cheaper than getting a Minx mani, but the reviews on Sephora’s website aren’t fantastic. More »

I read recently about a Nails, Inc. pop-up shop at the Henri Bendel department store in New York. The British company boasts a service that they call the “three-week manicure.” The name pretty much explains it: a manicure that lasts three weeks. But doesn’t this sound awfully familiar? More »

The nice people over at Kiss sent me some samples of their upcoming line of nail products for spring, and I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with them! Now, let me just say that I am no artist (not by a long stretch), but I’ve been using the Nail Artist Kit to put a little bit of design on my fingers! More »

The temperature in New York City hit 90 degrees today. Oh my goodness! Since the sun has finally decided to come out of hiding, I’ve logged quite a few hours in Central Park already! Unfortunately my toes aren’t in any condition to come out of hiding though… I need a fresh pedicure! But then comes the age old question: To match or not to match? More »

I was sent this link today, and I’m sort of in awe of the magnitude of this Japanese nail art. As you all probably know by now, I’m a huge fan of soak-off gel nail art, and I get it done whenever I can. This Japanese blogger has the most insane nails that I have ever seen! I don’t even know how she functions in day-to-day life with these claws! More »

Way back in junior high when I was just starting to get interested in fashion, I couldn’t afford designer clothing, nor would my mom drop big bucks on things that I was bound to outgrow quickly. At the time, I was a huge No Doubt fan, and Gwen Stefani was the epitome of style to me (who am I kidding, girl’s still got style!). She was always wearing various shades of red on her lips and nails, so as soon as I found out she wore CHANEL Vamp Nail Colour, I collected up my allowance money and headed to the CHANEL counter. Whenever I get my nails done, I always wish that I could afford something a little bit extravagant, like a cool design. I have absolutely no artistic ability, so doing my own nail art is pretty much impossible. I’ve been hearing a lot lately about Konad nail stamps though, and I’m sort of interested in testing them out! The design above was done by Beautopia! More »

Serena Williams, star tennis player, posted on her blog that she is doing 240 hours of training to learn how to be a nail technician! Her reason? “No one likes getting their nails done more than I do. As a matter of fact I go every 4 days to get a manicure and every 7 days for a pedicure.” Fair enough. Serena also has a line of nail products that she collaborated on with HairTech, so I guess she wants to be properly trained in case an adoring fan asks her for an impromptu mani-pedi. More »

My obsession with my nails goes way back to my days as an elementary school kid. I still vividly remember the day that two malicious classmates looked at my nails and then at their own, declaring that mine were “flat, short, ugly and like boy nails” while theirs were rounded and shaped. My little second-grade heart broke at the thought that I had boy nails because, of course, I had never thought of this before.
Fast-forward to my adolescence and further frustration with my nails. They are so thin that I could never get acrylics without destroying them. I tried all kinds of topcoats enriched with vitamins and keratin and every nail-strengthening ingredient, but nothing ever worked. Then I discovered Calgel. More »

One of the most overlooked aspects of beauty is nails. Whether they’re short and trimmed, or long and lacquered, no fails to notice nails. Many cool trends are happening in the world of manicures and pedicures and for the holiday season there’s no cheaper or easier way to try trends than with nails. Plus, changing the look of hands and toes is as easy as a polish switch. More »
